Introduction
ECS1020 is a SoC designed for wireless endoscope image acquisition and wireless transmission. This chip integrates microprocessor, wireless RF transceiver, image processing, power management, etc. Coworking with the VGA CMOS image sensor of OV76xx series produced by Omnivision Company, this chip can realize the functions of image acquisition, transmission, control of a bi-directional controllable image acquisition device. ECS1020 is featured as high integration, low power consumption, less peripheral conponents, etc. Typical applications include capsule endoscopes, micro monitoring equipments.
ECS1020 is integrated with an ultra-low-power micro processor to execute the workflow of the system and also has a MAC controller to realize the half-duplex communication protocol highly effectively.
ECS1020 uses a half-duplex, asymmetric-rate wireless transceiving mechanism. Transmitter works at the frequency of 404MHz ~ 432MHz. The carrier center frequency of the transmitting signal is divided into 8 channels in accordance with the interval of 4MHz, covering the European medical implanted device communication band (MICS,402~405MHz), the Chinese Mainland medical specific communication band (407~425MHz) and the international general industrial scientific medical band (ISM,432~434MHz). The transmitter of ECS1020 uses MSK modulation. The highest raw rate can be up to 3Mbps, and the effective rate is about 2Mbps. The receiver of ECS1020 uses OOK modulation. The highest rate is 64kbps. The mid-frequency of the receiver is 2MHz, correspondent with the channels of transmitter. The carrier center frequency of the receiving RF signal is distributed in the range of 406MHz~434MHz in accordance with the interval of 4MHz.
ECS1020 is integrated with 3 linear regulators and 1 switched-capacitor boost regulator, providing regulated power supply for each module inside the chip and the external image sensors and the image sensor flash. The high efficient power management circuit improves the system energy efficiency effectively.
