Abstract:
The invention provides a compatible accelerator extension method for an embedded system. An agent machine and multiple hardware accelerators are additionally arranged on a WSN node hardware system, the agent machine is arranged on a peripheral bus of a WSN node processor to be responsible for the WSN node processor upwards and serve as a general agency for all the newly-added hardware accelerators to manage all the newly-added hardware accelerators downwards, the agent machine and all the newly-added hardware accelerators form a subsystem, and new applications can use original hardware resource interfaces and also use newly-added hardware accelerator resource interfaces. Access to the extended accelerators is virtualized into read-write of peripheral addresses, compatibility with an original instruction set is achieved, and integral compatibility between newly-added hardware assemblies and original standard assemblies is guaranteed; the packaged extended accelerator assemblies bring convenience for users to call extension resources from the upper layer, and the difficulty and workload for adding new modules and transplanting software on a WSN node platform are relieved for the users.
