Title of Dissertation/Thesis:A Design of Low Voltage Standard Cell Library
Abstract:
Power consumption can be decreased effectively by decreasing the supply voltage. For the sake of improving the efficiency of circuit design, a low voltage standard cell library is necessary. The key point of this thesis is to study the method of creating multi-models of the standard cell library. Firstly, the structure of standard cell library was introduced, and the cells needed were listed, and the contents, functions of all library models were analyzed. After that, design methods of all library models, which includes the special requirement of layout floor plan, the method of extracting parasitic parameters and selecting sample points of output load and input slope in the table look up model were analyzed. According to the method of creating library and the EDA tool usage, a set of programs for creating library were written by written by SHELL and PERL language. The programs integrate EDA tool commands referred during creating library models. The programs realize an automatic process of creating library that can decrease the time for creating library and improve efficiency. In the end, to verify the programs of creating library referred in this article, a standard cell library whose working voltage is 1V was designed. A test chip by that standard cell library was designed. Compared among the DC synthesis results, HSPICE simulation results and the test results, the differences of the delay and power are less than 10%. Therefore, a veracious low voltage standard cell library can be created by using the methods and programs of creating library referred in this thesis.
