Title of Dissertation/Thesis:Research on Low-power Short-range Narrowband Wireless Transceivers
Abstract:
With the development of the wireless communication technology and the increased demands in the scenarios of the internet of things (IoT) and the wireless body area network (WBAN), the research on the low-power short-range transceiver attracts more attention. The core criteria of the system architecture is the feasibility to work under extremely low power consumption. However, with the advance of the transceiver architecture, the conventional architecture does not provide enough agility against power budget adjustment. The conventional modulation schemes such as the non-coherent BFSK occupies wide bandwidth for effective communication. The bandwidth occupancy can not be adjusted due to the orthogonality required by the non-coherent detection. The OOK modulation scheme achieves low power consumption, however the non-constant-envelope modulation is sensitive to interference. In this work, we propose a new agile modulation scheme which provides a tradeoff between bandwidth occupancy and SNR loss. We also propose two architectures oriented for the digital-intensive and direct signal acquisition scenarios.
