Abstract:
With the rapid enlargement of RFID’s application scope in the fields of logistics management, transportation management, access control and so on, the research of RFID system has been an important research project for the universities and laboratories. In this paper, the development and research of RFID system in the world are presented at the beginning, then an introduction for the theory of RFID system is given. For the more, the design and optimization of parts of analog front-end circuits of RFID tag chip are presented, including the rectifier, regulator and POR (power-on-reset) circuit. These circuits can be applied to the design of UHF RFID tag chip. During the design of rectifier, Dickson charge-pump is the core unit. The analysis of its principle of work and the optimized resolution when it was used in different circuits are presented in this paper. And a new way to calculate the input-impedance of the tag chip on the basis of power analysis is expatiated. A paralleled regulator-mode control technique is used to reduce the loss of power voltage. Under the precondition-prerequisite of circuit function of the POR circuit, some low voltage and low power technology are adopted for the request of low power of the tag chip. Several kinds of second-order effects of MOS transistor are made use of. And the analysis of the capacitance distribution of MOS transistor is done and made full advantage of. A reset-circuit with zero static power and controlled delay to reset the digital part of chip is expatiated. And in this paper, the development of PDK (process design kit) is introduced, which can make the designers efficiently finish their work of circuit design on time. The design of analog front-end of UHF RFID tag chip has been finished, and has been taped out with the digital circuit designed to be compatible with ISO/IEC 18000-6B standard. The actual measurement results are in accordance with the simulation ones. The total area of tag chip is 1300um×900um, and the current load is about 80uA. The distance that the UHF RFID tag can work is four to six meters after packaging the tag chip and tag antenna together.
