Title of Dissertation/Thesis:Design of Baseband-processor for UHF RFID Tag

Abstract:
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a general designation of technologies that use radio wave to identify individual item automatically. This technology gains an advantage over traditional bar code by that it slips the leash of visible light, all data are transmitted by radio wave. One can separately track almost every object in the world if he wants to, in contrast, bar code can only manage a class of objects from the same family. Because of all the advantages of RFID technology, systems using RFID are getting more and more prevalent in all kinds of applications such as supply chain management, access control, electronic payments, anti-theft system, etc. More and more IC company begin to develop RFID product now. This paper first introduces the basic concepts and working mechanism of RFID systems, and then ISO/IEC 18000-6B RFID protocol is discussed in detail. A base-band processor is designed according to the protocol, and measures are taken to reduce the cost, such as Command Classification, Realtime Processing and Resources Sharing, and finally the circuit generated has a scale of about 2500 under the Technique of SMIC0.18, which consumes about 10μW ,and it works from 0.5MHz to 2MHz. After synthesis and place-and-route, functional checks have been successfully performed by means of FPGA, and it works well from the result of logic analyzer.
