Title of Dissertation/Thesis:Design and Implementation of Electromagnetic Analysis Platform on Information Security Chips

Abstract:
As information security chips are more and more widely used in various important areas of national economy, especially in the financial sector in recent years. The anti-attack capability of the information security chip and the capability of safety evaluation get greater emphasis. Electromagnetic attack is an effective side-channel attack method. Foreign researchers have successfully carried out electromagnetic attack on the smart card, but in china the research in this area are relatively backward. Therefore, to establish an electromagnetic attack test platform so as to promote research and evaluation of anti-attack capability becomes particularly important. The paper designed and implemented two electromagnetic attack evaluation system based on the basic principles of electromagnetic attacks and the needs of the evaluation test. The first system: This system is designed and implemented information security chip electromagnetic attack systems. Through the comparative study of different design of electromagnetic attack platform, this paper chooses a more effective way of the near-field electromagnetic probe attack system. Through the electromagnetic probe selection and the design of the stepping platform, the hardware system achieves high-precision collection of the electromagnetic radiation signal on the chip surface with a near-field electromagnetic probe. The software system has realized automated collection and analysis. The entire system is embedded into a power analysis system. Through the test of the FPGA chip with 3DES operations, the system can get the critical moment with 1000 traces witch shows the effectiveness of the system.The second system: USBKEY is now widely used in financial area in china and its safety feature is more and more important. Nowadays, most evaluation departments in china are using the side channel analysis system produced by the Holland Company Riscure, which do not support USBKEY analysis. So it is crucial to add the compatibility for the original system. The system is designed mainly to solve the system software compatible for VC and different products. This paper uses the TCP / IP communication to resolve compatibility issues of software and uses Microsoft CSP interfaces to control USBKEY of the various manufacturers. Through trial and testing, the system is proved to be effective.
