Title of Dissertation/Thesis:Design of Two Point Modulated Frequency Synthesizer for GFSK Modulation
Abstract:
The Two-point modulator is a novel direct frequency modulation technology based on the ΔΣ fractional N frequency synthesizer. It can be used in the modulation of constant envelope signals such as GFSK signal, and it can also be used in the modulation of non-constant envelope signals by extended to be the polar transmitter. Owing to its advantages of structure simplicity, low power consumption and feasibility of integration, it very well satisfies the requirement of transmitters posed by fast developing communication technology, and is widely used in various communication protocols. The main research items in this thesis are as follows: Firstly, the working principle of the two-point modulator is studied. Especially the bottle neck of designing the two-point modulator, which is the gain and delay mismatch between the two signal paths, is analyzed. Secondly, a two-point modulation system is designed. It includes a chip of ΔΣ fractional N frequency synthesizer and peripheral circuits. Simulation results show that the rms EVM value of this two-point modulator achieves 5.4%. Thirdly, an algorithm of generating GFSK baseband signal is realized by FPGA. It is based on a look-up-table method developed from the principle of GFSK modulation.
