摘要/Abstract:
This paper describes a 4Gb/s ultra-wideband (UWB) transmitter design for high speed proximity communication systems. The OOK transmitter employs a carrier-based pulse generation architecture to avoid using bulky filters and directly modulates the output buffer with a triangle envelope. In order to mitigate the inter-symbol interference (ISI) problem, a hybrid pre-correction method is employed. The proposed transmitter is designed with 65nm CMOS technology, occupying an active area of 0.33mm2. Post-layout simulation results show that the transmitter can achieve the maximum data rate of 4Gb/s and satisfy the FCC spectrum mask. The transmitter consumes 13.5mW power from a 1V supply, having the energy efficiency of about 3.38pJ/b.
