摘要/Abstract:

This paper presents a low power cyclic ADC design forthe wireless monitoring system of the orthopedic implants. Inthis work, the two-stage cyclic structure including a single todifferential convertor, two MDACs and some comparators isadopted, which brings moderate speed and moderate resolutionwith low power consumption. The MDAC is implemented withthe common switched capacitor method. The 1.5-bit stage greatlysimplifies the design of the comparator. The operationalamplifier is carefully optimized both in schematic and layout forlow power and offset. The prototype ADC has been fabricated ina 0.18-μm 1P6M CMOS process. With a 304.7Hz input and 4-KHz sampling rate, the measured peak SNDR and SFDR are 47.1dB and 57.8 dB respectively and its DNL and INL are 0.27 LSBand 0.3 LSB, respectively. The power consumption of ADC isonly 12.5μW in normal working mode and less than 150nW insleep mode.
