摘要/Abstract:
A high-energy-efficiency wireless communication linkscheme is proposed for portable medical applications with strictresource constraints. The scheme is especially optimized for theapplication systems with the star-topology master-slave network,i.e., the network formed by a portable data-logger (master) andseveral sensor nodes (slaves). The proposed scheme eliminates“non-effective” operation energy consumption in the powercriticalslave nodes, by means of “moving” the energy-hungryoperations to the master node. Compared to the conventionalprotocols, the proposed scheme can greatly save energy andlengthen the lifetime of the slave nodes which are usuallysupplied by miniature button batteries, with the cost ofaffordable extra power consumption in the master node. Theprototype verification shows that energy efficiency and lifetimecan be improved by at least 50% for slave sensor nodes with atypical operation duty cycle.
