摘要/Abstract:
This paper proposes a reconfigurable automatic frequency control (AFC) module for software-defined radio (SDR) application which is designed for 200MHz-6GHz communication standards. 6 bits cap-array controls VCO output frequency from 3.05G-6.1GHz. Fast locking technology such as code estimation and binary search algorithm are proposed and verified by simulation in 0.13um process. Multi-configurable thresholds are also adopted for GSM/EDGE, LTE, DVB-H, WiMAX and WLAN standards. Code estimation and binary search algorithm are further costumed for dual band/dual path VCO to meet the setting time requirements. Configurable counters in AFC can further reduce VCO control bits searching time. The setting time is less than 80us with 13MHz reference frequency. Proposed AFC is also embedded with optimizing logic which achieves better phase noise performance when meeting band selection at overlap frequency.
